OUR PASTOR
Reverend Mike Scott
I was born April 2, 1952 in New Bern, NC at the old St. Luke’s Hospital. I graduated from New Bern High School in the spring 1970 and began my collegiate career at Mt. Olive Junior College in the fall of that same year. During my second year at Mt. Olive, I was saved and called into the Gospel Ministry. Upon graduation from Mt. Olive (a two-year school) I attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC as a Religion Major. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion in the spring of 1974. That summer I married Amy Barbour and that fall I enrolled in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I then graduated from Southeaster in 1978 with a Master’s Degree.

I have pastored six churches during my tenure as a minister. I began in Pamlico County where I pastored two part-time churches (Bay Creek Christian Church and Concord Christian Church). My first full time church was Johnston Union FWB Church in Smithfield, NC. It was while I was at Johnston Union that I was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in October of 1979. My next pastorate was Wintergreen FWB Church in Cove City, NC where I had a fruitful ministry for fifteen years. Following my time at Wintergreen I pastored the Oak Grove FWB Church in Vanceboro, NC for one year after which I accepted the call to pastor the Juniper Chapel FWB Church (Vanceboro, NC) in March of 1999. Juniper Chapel is a loving, caring church family, and for the past twenty-plus years I have been there and have witnessed many souls saved, dramatic spiritual growth and an abundance of God’s blessings.

Mrs. Amy Scott recently passed on to her heavenly home.

OUR MISSION
The mission of The Juniper Chapel Church is to glorify God by bringing others into communion with Him and to nurture the spiritual, emotional, physical and social needs of its congregation.
As a Christian community, our greatest witness is our love for one another, compassion for others, dedication to the Truth, and a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and His way of life.
Juniper Chapel Church is a group of followers of Jesus who knows that we travel better together. We need each other. None of us is a whole, independent, self-sufficient, super capable, all powerful...
Here is a verse of scripture describing what we aim to do together:

"Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality." (Romans 12:10-13)
OUR BELIEFS
The Juniper Chapel FWB Church is a vital ministry, spreading the Gospel in the greater Vanceboro area as well as the Piney Neck community. We believe in the infallibility of Scripture, the sovereignty of God and the atoning death of Christ the Lord. We likewise minister to the needs of the entire world through prayer and missionary endeavors. Juniper Chapel has a heart for the poor and downtrodden, and seeks to minister to both their physical and spiritual needs. As a member of the Original Free Will Baptist’s, the Juniper Chapel church supports all denominational ministries. As a church body we endeavor to exist through the power of the Holy Spirit.
OUR YOUTH
Juniper Chapels Kids of the Kingdom exists to supplement the family in reaching children with the good news of Jesus Christ and helping children to become fully devoted followers of Him. It is our goal to teach children God’s Word in a way that is relevant to them so they will grow in a deeper intimacy with Jesus. All Kids of the Kingdom environments are energetic and engaging programs designed to teach kids faith and character through a variety of learning activities.

I John says, “See what love God has given us, that we should be called children of God.” At Juniper Chapel, we recognize that children of God come in all ages, and all have a part to play in church work and worship. Children are vital to Juniper Chapel, and we believe church should be a place where children experience God’s love, joy, and community.
We seek to involve children in worship and provide the best opportunities for their spiritual formation—
in knowledge and practice.
